Name: Webinar: Capital Improvement Projects for Byways
Date: Thursday, September 16, 2010

Offered by America’s Byways Resource Center

Core Learning Area: Finances
Topic: Fiscal Management

Learning Objective: Participants will learn best practices for capital improvement project management from conception to close-out. They will learn about getting a byway project completed on time and within budget so their organization can be strengthened, rather than depleted, by a capital improvement program.

Description: In this webinar, a panel of practitioners will focus on areas where project plans can go awry, such as budgeting and scheduling. Other topics that will be covered include environmental review, project delivery options, requirements of funders and keeping track of your match. Roles of partnering entities, such as local units of government and the architect and/or engireer, will also be discussed. The panel will provide examples of lessons learned and best practices and answer participants’ questions. The webinar will highlight tools that can help you prepare for a capital improvement project so you can achieve the best results possible.
