Send Us Your Byway Accessibility Success Stories and Photos!
The America’s Byways Resource Center has hired DSL Design Consulting to develop a universal design/accessibility training package that the byway community can use to provide an all-inclusive visitor experience on byway corridors.
As part of the curriculum development, DSL needs your help in gathering accessibility/inclusion success stories, case studies and photos to be highlighted in the curriculum. Your byway’s stories and photos will assist others as they strive to make their byways more accessible and inclusive.
Universal design focuses on how various features, policies, communications and practices make a difference to persons with disabilities, older adults and parents with young children, as well as to workers pushing carts, maintenance personnel, travelers pulling luggage, etc. Visitors, employees, volunteers, and others will benefit from universal design.
How You Can Help
DSL is seeking your stories and photos depicting the following:
- New construction and renovations to existing byway features, businesses, centers, and other structures that have created a benefit to the byway and visitor
- Policies and practices that have made a difference
- Information, wayfinding, wayshowing, websites, and marketing that have made a difference
- Minor changes to major changes
- An increase in numbers of visitors and/or an increase in business
- Other stories and photos demonstrating the benefits of universal design
