RFP: Universal Accessibility And Byways Training Development

The America’s Byways Resource Center has determined that a key element of sustainable byways is their ability to plan for and provide accessible experiences for people of all abilities. As byway organizations work to provide for a safe and memorable visitor experience along their byways, they require an understanding of disabilities, accessibility, and principles of universal design, as well as their legal responsibility to be in compliance when using Federal dollars for byway projects.

To support this need, the Resource Center hired a consultant in 2008 to review and analyze the current capacity of the byway community to fully understand accessibility issues related to the byway experience. This work yielded a report, Accessibility Byways Training Initiative: Findings and Recommendations, which provides a variety of suggested actions to accomplish this goal. The Resource Center seeks a contractor to review said document and propose a training program from the suggested needs.

A copy of the draft, Accessibility Byways Training Initiative: Findings and Recommendations, can be obtained by contacting the project manager. Proposals must be received by: 3:00 PM CDT, Friday, May 29, 2009.
