Scenic Byway Awards Application Deadline Approaching
The deadline for 2009 Scenic Byway Awards applications is December 19, 2008. All applications, except for Indian tribe applications, must be submitted to State byway coordinators by December 5.
The Scenic Byway Awards seek to showcase projects of excellence, recognize outstanding byway leaders, and share with the byway community successful models that other byways can adapt and use for their own corridor or organization. In addition, the Leadership category introduced in 2007 will again be included. Projects are eligible if completed and closed out by the Federal Highway Administration on or before December 31, 2007. All projects completed in 2008 will be eligible for the next round of Scenic Byway Awards.
Any national, State, Indian tribe, or Federal lands byway may submit applications for projects of excellence and outstanding leaders. Award recipients will be recognized at the National Scenic Byways Conference in August 2009.
The 2009 Scenic Byway Awards are presented America’s Byways Resource Center and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in cooperation with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). For eligibility, requirements and applications forms, click here.
