"Where The Wild Things Live" Takes Top "Science And Nature" Honors At NETA 2008
WUFT Television’s production, Where the Wild Things Live, was named 2007’s finest science and nature program (small market) when the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) honored twenty-four public broadcasters with awards Friday on stage at The Columbus Hotel.
The program, a documentary on America’s national wildlife refuges, was a collaborative effort of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, WUFT-Television, the Federal Highway Administration and the America’s Byways Resource Center.
The panel of industry judges praised Where the Wild Things Live for the beautiful way it integrated art and nature, saying it would leave “a lasting impression” on all who viewed it.
In all, forty trophies in the areas of program production, promotion, outreach, and instructional media, were awarded. The celebratory presentation was part of NETA’s annual conference, held this year in Columbus, Ohio.
The NETA Awards are annual recognition of member-produced excellence in public broadcasting, a tradition established more than forty years ago by the pioneering Southern Educational Communications Association.
NETA is a professional association founded in 1997 to serve public television licensees and affiliated educational organizations. The organization has members in 44 States, the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands. NETA is headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina.
