Resource Center Welcomes Mark Conley

Mark Conley was selected by the Forest Service to serve as the Federal Lands Scenic Byway Coordinator and will be stationed at the America’s Byways Resource Center. Mark will provide national coordination and support for the National Forest Scenic Byways Program and Bureau of Land Management Backcountry Byways Program.

This is a newly created position made possible through an Interagency Agreement between the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Federal Highway Administration. Mark will primarily serve Federal land management agency partners. He will work in a team environment with the staff of the America’s Byways Resource Center formulating and advancing the Center’s goals and long-term strategy for the National Scenic Byways Program. He will also coordinate and work closely with Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management national, regional and byway leaders to assist with obtaining grant funds and partnerships to promote and enhance America’s Byways® on Federal lands.

Mark has over 20 years of Federal experience as an Outdoor Recreation Planner with the Bureau of Land Management in Oregon and California. He also served five years in Nepal as a Natural Resource Specialist with the Agency for International Development and Peace Corps. Mark will reside in Duluth with his wife Lucy and son Michael.
